Dr John Hobbs is a Senior Lecturer in Economics in the Department of Management and Enterprise in the Cork Institute of Technology. His research interests include regional competitiveness, cluster ecosystem mapping and industrial development policy. Dr Hobbs is the PI of the V-LINC expert research group which informs and develops policy recommendations through mapping, visualising and analysing the strength of key relationships within Cluster Ecosystems. V-LINC was developed in the School of Business & Humanities of Cork Institute of Technology by Dr John Hobbs, Eoin Byrne and their research team. Dr Hobbs has experience working on a number of collaborative European (FP7 funded BeWiser and REMCAP; national (Department of Jobs, Employment and Innovation and Enterprise Ireland) and locally funded projects (Cork City and County Councils and the West Cork Development Partnership). Dr Hobbs has presented his V-LINC academic research at international conferences including The Competitiveness Institute, European Regional Science Association and Regional Science Association International. V-LINC has featured as part of Ireland’s Department of Jobs, Employment and Innovation’s (2015) Action Plan for Jobs 2015 – 2017.
