For the first time, the TCI Annual Global Conference is being hosted in New Zealand, offering a fresh perspective and new ideas from the Asia-Pacific region. As New Zealand's fastest growing region, and economic powerhouse of the Pacific, Auckland continues to be a world-class gateway and thriving hub, a centre for world-class events, education and innovation, and a breeding ground for the world's best talent. A truly international city, Auckland is in the top four 'best cities in the world to live', according to The Mercer Quality of Living survey.

The programme: Competitiveness at the Edge.

The programme will examine the eco-system of competitiveness. Professor Michael Enright has been confirmed as a keynote speakers and other leading speakers will be announced in the coming weeks.

From how small open economies compete through to new thinking and innovation systems and internationalising firms, the conference will combine the various levels of activity to establish an overarching view of competitiveness.

The four themes:

  • 1. Competitive advantage of small open economies
  • 2. Regional and urban competitiveness: creativity and innovative drivers of urban competitiveness
  • 3. New Thinking: Innovation systems and sustainable business models
  • 4. Growing the eco-system of internationalising firms

The call for papers across these themes will open on 2 May 2011. We are looking forward to receiving contributions from the TCI Network.

Cluster tours:

Innovative clusters are emerging around high-growth, high-value areas where New Zealand has particular expertise. Cluster tour options will include marine, advanced food and beverage, agritech and creative industries.

The TCI conference is a global and inspiring platform for fast exchange of ideas on competitiveness, clusters and innovation. The conference is five days of stimulating learning, networking and connecting with people from over 50 countries.
