15th TCI Annual Global Conference
"Constructing Place-based Competitiveness in times of Global Change"
16-19 October 2012, Basque Country, Spain
Organized by Orkestra-Basque Institute for Competitiveness and the Basque Government, the 2012 TCI Annual Global Conference will provide a unique opportunity for policy-makers, cluster practitioners and academics to advance our understanding of "place-based" competitiveness challenges, and to discuss practical approaches to key issues such as competitiveness policies today, cluster renewal, smart specialization, inter-cluster collaboration, policy governance, evaluation and benchmarking, the role of universities, cluster entrepreneurship, innovation infrastructures, management of IPRs, creativity and collaboration, leadership, etc.
Hosted in a part of the world renowned for building competitiveness strategy from the strengths of its firms and people, the conference will also offer an opportunity to share and reflect on the competitiveness trajectory of the Basque Country, a region with strong tradition, experience and results in cluster and competitiveness policy. Delegates will have the chance to explore first-hand some of the region's innovative clusters - renewable energy, machine tools, wine and tourism, ... - and unique experiences such as the city regeneration of Bilbao or the cooperative organisation of Mondragon.

Next year we will also meet in Gurgaon, India. The focus of this 2-days conference, organized by Institute for Competitiveness India, is on three pillars of Competitiveness: Economic Development, Prosperity and Shared Value Creation. "Boosting the Strategic Sectors through Innovation and Collaboration"

One more year, TCI Latin American practitioners will meet, this time in Monterrey, Mexico. The proposal of the event, organized with the TCI member SEDEC-Secretariat of Economic Development Nuevo Leon, is to adopt successful models which may further contribute to increasing the competitiveness of sectors, to be acquainted with new and better models of clustering, and finally, to continue participating in the development of a cluster cooperation network in Mexico and Latin America. Participate in the conference, and do not miss the opportunity to get to know the reality of 10 strategic clusters located in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, the main challenges confronting them, and the proposed solutions in search of more effective and sustainable results.
Mediterranean Conference
"Clusters as Drivers for Economic and Social Development in the Mediterranean Area"
14-15 June 2012, İzmir, Turkey
In 2012, TCI will expand its activities for the first time to the Mediterranean area. Organized in collaboration with TCI member İzmir Development Agency, the conference will focus on clustering and innovation policy practices and the clusters' experiences in the Mediterranean Area. With participants from Mediterranean countries, the conference is expected to become a creative and synergetic platform, to meet and share policies and practices, exchange knowledge and produce valuable outputs. Clustering policies have been implemented and experienced widely in the Mediterranean Area for more than ten years. Within this rich diversity, it is aimed to create a discussion environment among policy makers and practitioners, working in different countries in the area.
