Marine Industry - Westhaven, Central Auckland and West Auckland

The New Zealand marine industry builds more boats per capita than any other country in the world. The country's largest concentration of marine industries is in the Auckland Region, servicing national and international clients. Westhaven Marina in the central city is the largest marina in the Southern Hemisphere. This marine quarter around the Viaduct Harbour has a focus on sea trials, sales, service, refit and maintenance.

Innovative initiatives within Auckland include a planned purpose-built marine industrial park -based at Hobsonville in Auckland's Northwest. Yard 37 is a new 20 hectare marine industrial precinct set to provide comprehensive and essential marine infrastructure for the transport, launching, berthing super yachts and other craft.

Food and Beverage, Manukau, Auckland

Nationally, the food and beverage industry in New Zealand consists of over 90,000 enterprises employing almost 400,000 people. Food and beverage exports currently account for 52% of New Zealand's total exports. Auckland and the surrounding districts of Waikato and Bay of Plenty are home to 45% of New Zealand's food manufacturing companies and 36% of its labour force.

The Food and Beverage sector group, established and facilitated by Auckland Tourism, Events and Economic Development, comprises over 150 food and beverage businesses operating in the greater Auckland region.

This tour will include a visit to sector group F&B manufacturing company followed by a visit to the newly developed Food Innovation Centre in Manukau.

AgBio NZ Cluster, Waikato Innovation Park, Hamilton

The AgBio NZ Cluster comprises approximately 90 companies operating in the pastoral dairy and livestock industry. These companies are commercially driven with expertise and products applicable from research and development through to the production and processing ends of the value chain.

AgBio NZ is a collaborative group which encourages member companies to work together and deliver complete solutions to the dairy and livestock industries. A recent and exciting cluster development is the formation of NZ Dairy Solutionz and Beef Solutionz - consortium that will undertake large scale agricultural developments offshore. NZ Dairy Solutionz and Beef Solutionz acts as the honest broker delivering a ‘best of breed' solution for corporate and industrial farm developments, while utilising core technologies offered by cluster companies.
