Take a look at the complete program

As for the professional profile of those currently registered, they are predominantly from the academic world (25%), cluster associations (21%) and consultants (16%), with a large representation from governmental organisations at various levels (multilateral, national, regional and local).

Registration will remain open via the conference website until October. To whet your appetite, in addition to four plenary sessions featuring a mix of keynote addresses and panel discussions at the cutting edge of competitiveness practice and policy (you can find details of confirmed speakers), there will be 34 workshop sessions bringing together around 170 presenters to share and discuss concepts, evidence, experiences, problems and solutions from around the world.

The workshop sessions will be organised in 8 tracks, so that delegates can select to follow the discussions within a complete track, or pick-and-mix specific sessions of interest across tracks:
• Constructing place-based competitiveness
• Competitiveness policies & their evaluation
• Smart specialization & inter-cluster collaboration
• Challenges in cluster management
• Clusters in context
• Fostering competitive cities
• Upgrading firms, industries & territories
• Specific competitiveness challenges

The first day of the conference will also offer a unique opportunity to get hands-on experience of the workings of some of the Basque Country's clusters (aerospace, automotive, biosciences, machine tools, renewable energy, surf, wine & tourism), and to understand their evolution in the context of a set of proactive regional competitiveness policies that has become a global reference point.

A first version of the complete programme with details of all of the above is now available. We encourage you to join us for this stimulating programme, and look forward to welcoming you to the Basque Country.
