Partial Renewal of the Board

At the 2021 General Assembly, the following Directors will complete their mandate: Vincent Dugré, Tracy Scott-Rimington and James Wilson (Secretary) who will step down from the board after completing two full terms (3+3 years). And Péter Keller and Emily Wise (Treasurer) who will present to reelection after completing a 3-year term.

In addition, four new candidates will be presented to the General Assembly for a vote, David Fernández (Spain), John Hobbs (Ireland), Tony Lin (Taiwan) and Stephanie Scott (USA).

The new elected directors will join the current directors in the Board who continue to 2022 and 2023, Merete Daniel Nielsen (President), Rasmus C. Beck, Septi Bukula, Evgeniy Kustenko, Yeinni Patiño, Mirjana Prica, Ásta Sigurjónsdóttir and Oliver Torres.

Peter Keller presents to reelection for director 2021-2024

Peter Keller is Head of Programme Strategic Department at the Managing Authority of Economic Development Programmes of the Ministry of Finance in Hungary, that is responsible for the implementation of the Hungarian cluster strategy. He is member of the European Cluster Policy Forum at the European Commission and member of the TCI Board of Directors since 2018.

Emily Wise, presents to reelection for Treasurer 2021-2024

Emily Wise is researcher at Lund University’s (Sweden) collaboration office – providing analysis and advisory support in innovation policy development, with a focus on governance and evaluation of clusters and collaborative innovation ecosystems. With 25 years’ experience as a consultant and policy analyst, she has worked with regional and national innovation agencies in Sweden, Norway and Denmark and has participated as an expert with other agencies around Europe, for the European Commission and other international organisations. She is member of the TCI Board of Directors since 2018.

John Hobbs, candidate to Director 2021-2024

John Hobbs is Director of the V-LINC Cluster Research Group at The Munster Technological University (MTU) Ireland, which has conducted projects with over 50 industry clusters and governments in 20 countries worldwide. He is a cluster practitioner with direct involvement in the establishment of several clusters in Ireland and is a member of the National Steering Group on Ireland’s Cluster Policy. A long-time member of TCI Network, John has presented at 8 TCI conferences and is widely published in academic journals such as Regional Studies and Competitiveness Review.

David Fernandez, candidate to Director 2021-2024

David Fernandez is member of the team that coordinates the Basque cluster programme at SPRI, Basque Business Development Agency (Spain), in charge of managing the programme funding call and of supporting cluster organisations with capacity building, international reach and cross-cluster initiatives. Being on the board of 6 cluster organisations and as ESCA benchmarking expert, he has a deep understanding of cluster dynamics, cluster excellence and stakeholders’ expectations. David has 15+ years of experience in trade and competitiveness and is a long-time member of TCI Network, where he has contributed in working groups, webinars, peer reviews and panels at TCI Global Conferences since 2014 and as mentor of the TCI Mentoring Programme, what he considers a very stimulating learning journey along with the members of the TCI Network.

Stephanie Scott, candidate to Director 2021-2024

Stephanie Scott is Director of the Washington State Department of Commerce’s Innovation Cluster Accelerator Program (ICAP), one of the first US statewide cluster development programs in the United States that will be officially launch later this year. She is an experienced economic development professional with a broad background in business development, workforce development, tech transfer and commercialization, and U.S. federal contracting and grant funding. She is a strategic thinker and dot connector passionate, new in the TCI Network, she says she is quickly learning from global clusters and best practice and she is eager to bring new perspectives and collaborate with the TCI members.

Tony Lincandidate to Director 2021-2024

Tony Lin is a researcher at the Industrial Technology Research Institute of Taiwan, providing think tank services for ministries of Taiwan Government and facilitating international cooperation. Tony has experience in formulating national SME policy initiatives and regional cluster development projects. He also assists industry associations and local development agencies in developing international marketing strategy. Being an active member of the TCI Asia Chapter, he seeks to promote more international cooperation and more international research for clusters in Asia, as he thinks TCI is the best platform for this.

Ásta Sigurjonsdottir, appointed new Secretary 2021-2022

Ásta Kristín Sigurjónsdóttir is CEO of the Iceland Tourism Cluster, promoting competitiveness and value creation within the Icelandic tourism and travel industry; with a focus on digital solutions and new businesses. Ásta has worked on business development and innovation for the Centre of East Iceland. She is member of the TCI Board of Directors since 2019 and has accepted the invitation to be next Secretary.
