The Cluster Community is a regional development strategy leaded by the Chamber of Commerce of Medellin for Antioquia and the Mayor of Medellin. During the last 10 years, the Chamber of Commerce of Medellin for Antioquia has oriented all its efforts on study and therefore understands Medellin´s specialization capacity and differentiation in the new global context. From those studies, it is originated the initiative of Cluster Community, as a strong development strategy that allows the formation of business networks and the identification of market opportunities. The Mayor of Medellin has joined to those efforts and it has included the Cluster Community as part of its political and economic development strategy. It has been found in the methodology of clusters an important organizational outline to build business networks in the region, identify opportunities to create businesses around new activities or to strengthen the ones that already exist and facilitate the businesses creation in activities of rapid growth and impact on the creation of employment. Actually, the Cluster Community is made up of five strategic economic sectors for the region: the Construction Cluster; Power Energy Cluster; Textile/Clothing, Design and Fashion Cluster; Business Events, Fairs and Conventions Cluster; and Medical and Dental Services Cluster. Today, those clusters are becoming the engine of competitive advantage for thousands of businessmen in the region.
