Between February 12-16, the TCI Network undertook a visit to Chihuahua, Mexico, marking the initial step toward the upcoming TCI Global Conference, scheduled for October 8-10 2024.

During their stay, Claudia Soncin, Project Manager, and Natalia Gutiérrez, Communication Specialist at TCI, engaged in productive work meetings with the local organizing team led by Oliver Torres, Director of TCI Network and Advisor for DESEC (Economic Development of the State of Chihuahua). Additionally, they had the opportunity to immerse themselves in the State of Chihuahua’s cluster ecosystem firsthand.

Claudia and Natalia were warmly received by representatives from both the local and state Governments. Ulises Fernández, Secretary of Innovation and Economic Development for the State of Chihuahua, José Jesús Jordán, Director of Economic Development and Competitiveness for the Municipality, and Alejandro Jaschack, Director of the Agency for Economic Development in Chihuahua, were among the key public figures they met.

Furthermore, they presented TCI Network and the 2024 TCI Global Conference to the region’s main entrepreneurs. In insightful conversations, they discussed challenges and strengths with cluster managers, gaining valuable understanding.

Local media outlets expressed interest in our visit and the upcoming TCI Global Conference in October. Our colleagues had the chance to share the story of how Chihuahua played a pivotal role in the origin of our organization. It began during a World Bank event celebrated in Chihuahua in 1998, where the idea of creating a global organization for clusters came up, and just a year later, TCI Network was founded in Barcelona. Later on, in 2008, The TCI Latam Chapter Kicked-off after the successful CLAC 2008 (TCI Latin American Cluster Congress), also hosted in Chihuahua.

In summary, a highly productive visit that propels us forward in organizing #TCI2024. This year’s conference theme will revolve around the collaborative future, artificial intelligence, the future of works, and the role of public policies.

During the next few days, we will launch the official event website, opening registration with an early bird discount and a special rate for our members. Furthermore, we will soon release the call for proposals, inviting all interested individuals to co-create the TCI Global Conference 2024.
